This crochet baby skirt will be made with a lot of stitches, so you need to have a knowledge of front/ back post of a (single/ half double and double) crochet stitches, also you need to know the basic stitches (single/ half double and double crochet).

Materials

To create this crochet baby skirt, you will need a crochet hook of 3 mm and any light DK yarn. This tutorial is for a baby from 6-12 months.

Pattern of Crochet Baby Skirt

– start with 90 chains + chain 3 (as height). (For different sizes start with the waist size).

Round 1: Double crochet in the fourth chain from hook, double crochet across the remain chains, slip stitch to the first double crochet in the round. [90 stitches]

Round 2: Chain 2, *front post double crochet in the next stitch, back post double crochet in the next stitch*, repeat * across the round, slip stitch to the first stitch in the round. [90 stitches]

Round 3: Chain 2, *front post double crochet in the first front post double crochet from the previous round, back post double crochet in the next back post double crochet from the previous round *, repeat * across the round, slip stitch to the first stitch in the round. [90 stitches]

Round 4: Repeat previous round. [90 stitches]

– Now we finished the ribbing part.

Round 5: Chain 2, skip first front post double crochet, back post single crochet in the next back post double crochet from the previous round, *chain 2, skip next stitch, back post single crochet in the next back post double crochet*, repeat * across the round, chain 2, slip stitch to the first stitch in the round. [90 stitches]

Round 6: Chain 1, 2 half double crochet in the first chain 2 space, *2 half double crochet in the next chain 2 space*, repeat * across the round, slip stitch to the first stitch in the round. [90 stitches]

Round 7: Chain 1, turn, half double crochet in the same stitch, *half double crochet in the next stitch*, repeat * across the round, slip stitch to the first stitch in the round. [90 stitches]

Round 8-18: Repeat the previous round for 11 more times, fasten off.

– From fasten off point, count 18 stitches in both sides, put stitch markers in each place (first & second marker place), then count another 12 stitches, put stitch markers in this place (third marker place), then count another 30 stitches, put stitch markers in this place (fourth marker place).

– Now we will make the bottom part, insert hook in the first marker place.

Row 19: Chain 1, half double crochet in the same stitch, half double crochet in the next 35 stitches until reach the second marker place, chain 1, turn. [36 stitches]

Row 20: Skip first stitch, *half double crochet in the next stitch*, repeat * until reach the last 2 stitches, half double crochet decrease, chain 1, turn. [34 stitches]

Row 21-30: Repeat previous row for 10 more times until reach 14 stitched in the row.

Row 31: half double crochet in the same stitch, half double crochet in the next stitch until the end, fasten off. [14 stitches]

Back to third marker place, inset yarn, ch1, turn.

Row 19: Chain 1, half double crochet in the same stitch, half double crochet in the next 29 stitches until reach the fourth marker place, chain 1, turn. [30 stitches]

Row 20: Skip first stitch, *half double crochet in the next stitch*, repeat * until reach the last 2 stitches, half double crochet decrease, chain 1, turn. [28 stitches]

Row 21-27: Repeat previous row for 7 more times until reach 14 stitched in the row.

Row 28-31: half double crochet in the same stitch, half double crochet in the next stitch until the end, fasten off. [14 stitches]

– Flip the piece on the backside and slip stitch ends together, fasten off.

Borders for the leg:

– Chain 1, half double crochet in each stitch across the leg hole, slip stitch to the first stitch in the round.

– Chain 1, *front post half double crochet in the next stitch, back post half double crochet in the next stitch*, repeat * across the round, slip stitch to the first stitch in the round.

– Repeat previous round for 2 more times.

– Repeat for the second leg hole.

– Now we will work on the skirt part:

– Insert hook in any skipped stitch in round 5, chain 1.

Round 9-13: Repeat previous round.
